Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she completed her secondary education. With a deep-rooted passion for family law, Ashley's current legal practice focuses on various aspects of family matters. She concentrates her practice on divorce cases, alimony issues, marital property division child custody battles, and child support arrangements. She also handles the post-divorce and enforcement of issues including step-parent adoptions as well as private party adoptions as and concerns regarding child welfare. Ashley has served as a mediator appointed by the court since the year 2019, assisting parties in helping to resolve their issues without needing court involvement. In addition to mediation mandated by the court, Ashley also mediates in private cases for individuals who wish to avoid the court process and litigation.
After having completed her undergraduate studies at Loyola University of Maryland, where she earned dual Bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was placed among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was a Note Editor for the Western New England Law Review during her time at law school. This proved her dedication to scholarship and legal research.
After completing her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship journey, working for distinguished jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She was privileged to serve as a law assistant to the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. Subsequently, in 2014 she returned home to her hometown of Hagerstown to serve as a clerk for the Honorable M. In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. as an associate attorney. Her primary focus at the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters related to child welfare. Through her tireless efforts, Ashley played a vital role in helping children who had suffered abuse or neglect at the by their parents or caregivers. Her dedication to social justice extended beyond the legal realm as she actively served as an executive member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force working tirelessly to raise awareness about human trafficking in the tri-state region.
In 2017 she was a founding partner at Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and began her practice in family law including divorce, custody, child maintenance and guardianships – as well as financial and estate planning, wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy and mediation.
Ashley started Wilburn Law Office, LLC, in 2023, with the intention of providing a personalized approach to every client's needs.
